Project Information

This film follows participants in the Journalism AI Innovation Challenge as they explore how emerging AI tools can support the future of local journalism. Supported by Google and led by Journalism AI at the London School of Economics, the program brought together 35 publishers from 22 countries to experiment, prototype, and learn from one another. 

The story moves between newsrooms in Georgia, USA, Cape Town, South Africa, and Pune, India, capturing how different teams are experimenting with AI in ways that reflect their unique audiences, constraints, and missions. From student-run local papers to established independent outlets, the project highlights a shared goal: freeing up time and resources so journalists can focus on the work that matters most.
