Project Information

The Google News Initiative wanted to develop a series of case studies highlighting their work supporting publishers and journalists in APAC. After identifying the best stories across the region, we worked with the featured organizations to find the right subjects—both journalists as well as members of the community who could speak to impact.

We took a documentary approach to interviews and b-roll to achieve a look and feel that was truly authentic to our subjects and their locale. We created guidelines and a workflow with checks and balances that allowed us to produce in an effective and intimate manner in each country we visited. And in an effort to keep our carbon footprint as light as possible, we made sure to source top-tier local production talent, traveling only the necessary key team members for each case study.

Ultimately, we developed two versions of each story, totaling in 12 case study videos, along with several cutdowns from each for social. The assets were distributed on YouTube, targeted social platforms, as well as live events and meetings.
